Alhaurin Golf Club was opened in 1993, designed by Seve Ballesteros and is located between Malaga and Marbella just 20 minutes from Fuengirola. It is situated in a truly natural setting with astonishing views over the Mijas Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. This 18 hole, par 72, 6045m (white tees) golf course is as you would imagine a little hilly therefore a buggy is recommended, it is not the easiest of courses, with several blind shots, narrow landing zones and protected bunkers it is perhaps a course suited to the lower handicap golfer but it is a good test for the medium to higher handicap golfer. It is a challenging course with plenty of natural hazards, mature vegetation and trees. There is also a very good Par 3 Course adjacent to the new Club House.

Aloha Golf Club is a truly beautiful and outstanding course situated between Marbella and Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol. Opened in 1975 and designed the the renowned golf course Designer, Don Javier Arana, this 18 hole, par 72, 6293m (white) golf course is definitely a jewel in the crown of the "Marbella Golf Valley" hosting both International and National Tournaments. The course is excellent and well balanced with 5 long holes where strength and precision is essential. Be aware of long flowing but sloping fairways, dog legs, many extremely well placed bunkers - large and small - water hazards by the score, rough that will totally change your shot, elevated tees and greens that are shaped, fast and uneven. Apart from the 5 long holes, Aloha Golf does not give you an easy ride on the other 13 holes, the rest call for strategy and technique and if you venture off the fairways, there are a unexpected surprises awaiting you. Natural, well established flora, trees and obstacles are strategically placed throughout the course. There is also a lovely Par 3 course which compliments the Main Course, good for the skillful player to sharpen their game or for beginners before progressing to the Main Course.

Añoreta Golf is situated east of the capital of the Costa del Sol, Malaga. Designed by the former Ryder Cup Player, José María Cañizares this 18 hole, par 72, 6016m (white) golf course was originally a 9 hole course reopened as 18 holes in 1990. Añoreta Golf has proven itself to be a challenge to all players at every level with its varied and super undulating greens that are surrounded by trees and water highlighting the natural beauty of its surroundings. The local flora and vegetation also enhance the natural look of the course. There are a number of bunkers, immense water hazards and fast greens however the fairways are good and manageable. It is generally thought that the 17th hole with its large lake and spectacular green (water on 3 sides) and the magnificent 18th hole will impress even the well travelled golfer. There is a huge amount of water on this course with hazards on 11 of the 18 holes. The Club House is a lovely place to relax after your round.

The Championship Old Course, designed by Bernard Von Limburger, is an 18 hole, par 72, 6146m (white) golf course with wide fairways and large elevated greens, this course provides a challenge to golfers at all levels. Elegant and mature with spectacular views its apparently benign parkland aspect with gently sloping fairways makes it an ideal course for the average club golfer but plentiful bunkers filled with sparkling marmolina sand, fast greens, water, local vegetation and fairways lined with trees can prove a challenge for single figure golfers as well. The New Course, designed by Paul Krings in 1990, is an 18 hole, par 71, 5142m (white) set further inland but has a similar parkland feel about it. Gentle undulating fairways and large fast greens with hazards that can be rather obvious but will still manage to catch the unwary golfer. Care is needed from the tees as wayward shots will soon encounter difficulties. The New Course is rapidly catching up with the Old in terms of quality.

Baviera Golf designed by Jose Maria Canizares, is an 18 hole, par 71, 5609m (white) golf course. Baviera Golf is a flat course characterised by its fast, wide undulating, some say quite uneven, greens, lovely long, wide fairways, water hazards, well placed bunkers and spectacular views. The course itself suits all good club golfers with a moderate technical difficulty rating. Hole 5 is one of the longest holes on the course and you can hit a wonderful powerful drive but it has to be straight. The green is large and flat. Hole 8 has a lovely elevated green but danger lurks all around so you have to be brave. Water comes into play big time at the 9th and the green can be tricky. Hole 18, if you slice the ball then you should enjoy this hole, a good drive, strong 2nd shot and finish on the flat green perhaps with a birdie! Good way to end your round. Watch out for Hole 3, lots of water, Hole 11 which is the longest on the course, is also narrow with a river on the right, good green and Hole 14 which if you hit short your'e in the water once more but there is a huge green to aim for. Cabopino Golf Club sits on the outskirs of Marbella on the Costa del Sol. Designed by Juan Ligues Creus this 18 hole, par 71, 5194m (yellow) golf course is a little shorter than some but don't be fooled Cabopino is a challenge. New golfers may find this course a little difficult, even daunting, with its landscape and level of obstacles - it is a test even for the more experienced golfers - but a good course with some tricky shots. Cabopino is a hilly and scenic course, don't expect a low score and you will certainly use all your clubs. It is generally a tight course with narrow fairways amid bunkers of varying sizes that are strategically placed and slope - you will be well tested. Incredible water throughout with streams and small waterfalls etc. On the par 4, 3rd tee you will be driving towards a green that drops dramatically, what a hole and what a view!
Cabopino Golf Club sits just a short distance from Marbella. Its an elevated course which offers absolutely stunning views. The Restaurant is welcoming and has a good selection of food, snacks and drinks. Practice facilities offer a good driving range and putting green. There is a Pro Shop with a rental service of clubs etc, locker room and Golf Academy.

Cerrado del Aquila Golf Club, located next to the racecourse, forms part of the expanding "Mijas Golf Valley". This is an excellent nine hole course which is presently being developed into an 18 hole course however, the existing nine holes are deemed to be the one of the best on the coast. The wide American style fairways are generally forgiving together with some masterful course planning and superb views. This is a great technical course with its lakes, spacious greens, wide fairways and sea and mountain views - this course caters for golfers of all levels.

Doña Julia Golf, Bahia de Casares is situated south of Marbella, close to many golf courses in that area and only a short drive from Sotogrande and Valderrama. Owned by Group Evemarina but managed by Aymerich Golf Management this 18 hole, par 71, 6021m (white) golf course was designed by Antonio Garciá Garrides and has matured well for a relatively new golf course. Built to USGA rules and regulations with regard to tees, bunkers, drainage and greens Doña Julia is part of a large residential complex which will boast 3 golf courses and two luxury hotels run by Hyatt. Doña Julia is a well designed course with views of the mountains and Mediterranean Sea. The front 9 is longer, thought to be the trickier half and winds its way through indiginous trees, rivers and lakes while the back 9 is nearer to the beach and slightly flatter. All holes have large greens sown with the same grass as Valderrama, they have outstanding features and pin positions are varied therefore changing your whole approach to the green. Rental of a buggy is adviseable.
Doña Julia Golf is owned by Group Evemarina but managed by Aymerich Golf this relatively new club is a work in progress. Pro Shop is well stocked and has a rental service for buggies, trolley's, electric trolley's and clubs. The Club House has a Restaurant, Changing Rooms and Showers. Private lessons are available. Practice facilities include driving range, putting greens and practice balls.
Operated by Aymerich Golf Management this course has become one of the most recognised since re-opening two years ago. The course consists of 18 holes situated in one of the most privilaged settings on the Costa del Sol and is close to the town of Fuengirola. El Chaparral offers what every golfer looks for, tranquility, and although not excessively long you will find a large variety of holes that are enjoyed by players of all levels. The front 9 is generally thought of as being the narrower with slightly tighter fairways where precision is needed when playing but don't think that the back 9 are any pushover, they aren't. Flamingos Golf Course has everything, huge amounts of water, strategically placed bunkers filled with white marmolina sand, doglegs, elevated tees, fabulous undulating and divided greens and long wonderful fairways. The 4th, 10th, 15th and 16th holes will all challenge and hopefully inspire you but the 18th with its fabulous elevated tee looking down the length of the hole, the fountain, the 2nd lake to the right of the most incredible green - this hole is considered by many to be one of the best designed holes on the coast if not Spain.
Flamingos Golf Club has the most magnificent Club House surrounded by natural beauty. The Club House has open terraces with superb views, an interior that is luxurious and a Restaurant serving a reasonably priced Menu del Dia, breakfast, snacks and drinks. The Pro Shop is full of fabulous golf items and prestigious brand names. There is a buggy and high quality club rental service together with a Caddie Master Service. La Cala Golf Resort situated on the Mijas Costa, is now considered to be one of the largest golf complex's in Spain. The resort is a high quality 3 course complex, Campo America (formerly the North Course), Campo Asia (formerly the South Coast) and the newer Campo Europa. All three courses are thought to be some of the toughest on the Costa del Sol, a real challenge for medium and low handicap players. Accuracy and keeping your ball on the fairway together with trying to avoid the well placed bunkers and water hazards is the rule of thumb.

This 18 hole, par 72, 6067m (white), golf course is not a flat course with many holes that have sloping fairways and severe doglegs with blind tee shots. La Duquesa has lovely elevated greens that are well protected by bunkers however there is not a lot of water on the course but do not let this fool you this is a challenging and difficult golf course. Its a long walk so hiring a buggy is advisable. The front 9 fairways are narrow but widen when playing the back 9. There are some spectacular views out to the Mediterranean Sea and North Africa. There is an incredible variety of holes making it difficult to name a signature hole but all the par 3 holes should be approached with caution.

The course is reasonably flat so can be walked however, although this is considered a technical course it is not too difficult but concentration and the right choice of club is essential, good scores are achievable. Set in beautiful surroundings with some spectacular views, the course was designed with great respect for nature and the environment. The fairways are lovely, the greens can be extremely tricky and with dog legs, numerous lakes/water hazards, gullies and well placed bunkers - the course, whichever combination you play - has it all.

Set amongst the steep Sierra de Ronda Mountains the Los Arqueros Golf Course has impecable fairways that follow the lie of the land blending harmoniously with the natural surroundings. While each hole has its own personality the course is challenging for an experienced player and a genuine test for the golfer new to the game. You will require accuracy and good club selection as there are tight tee shots, doglegs, sharp downhill slopes, bunkers, water hazards and lakes together with hazardous "out of bound" areas. There is a Restaurant which offers a superb menu and hosts an extensive wine cellar whether you are seated in the tranquil interior our relaxing in the exterior area with its shady terrace and fabulous views. Mijas Golf Club was founded in 1976 and sits north of Fuengirola in the Mijas Valley on the Costa del Sol. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr both courses, Las Lagos 18 holes, par 71, 6367m (white) and Los Olivos 18 holes, par 70, 5840m (white) are both challenging and extremely interesting to play. Los Lagos demands concentration to avoid obstacles with its wide fairways, strategically placed tees, excellent large greens that are defended well by many bunkers and 9 lakes, look out for the water especially at the 9th and 18th. Suited to all players but be brave. Los Olivos is the smaller of the two courses with different characteristics, smaller undulating greens again well protected. There is an abundance of trees, bunkers and fairways are narrow with elevated greens but there are fewer water hazards. This course is probably more suited to the player with a high technical ability and precision game. Mijas Golf Club is well worth a visit.

Mijas Golf Club is situated north of Fuengirola in the lovely valley of Mijas. The Club House is an old welcoming Andalucian Farmhouse converted to a superb standard with open terraces. The Restaurant that has an excellent Menu serving both National and International Cuisine together with a more informal menu, breakfast, snacks, buffet and drinks. Internally, there is also a modern Golf Club Room and a recently refurbished Changing Room area with Showers etc. The Pro Shop is very well equipped with all the top brands and has a buggy, trolley, electric trolley and club rental service. Golf lessons are available. Practice facilities are good with an open and covered bay driving range, practice balls, a large practice putting green and chipping green.
Monte Mayor Golf Club opened in 1989 and was designed by the truly creative designer, José Gancedo. This 18 hole, par 71, 5509m (white) golf course was built with flair and total respect for the natural shape of the land. Situated in a valley, the Monte Mayor Golf Course clings to the slopes of Monte Mayor under the ancient gaze of the castle. There are some narrow fairways, doglegs, bunkers, water hazards, ravines and slopes making your club selection extremely important - some say it is advisable to occasionally leave your driver in the bag as wayward shots will be heavily penalised. However, the general opinion of golfers who have played Monte Mayor is that the course is "cracking", definitely a challenge and one not to be missed. To play it is to understand it. The 6th Hole is considered the most difficult on the course with the river around 200m from the tee, its downhill from the tee with your 2nd shot uphill to a tricky green, don't overshoot this green or you could land up is a lot of trouble. There is no "Out of Bounds" on the course, drop according to Rule 26 (red or yellow stakes).

Monte Mayor Golf Club has a stunning traditional Club House, modern interior and a large Andalucian style terrace. The Pro Shop is extremely well stocked with all the essentials for a golfer, there is buggy hire and club rental available. Monte Mayor also has 2 Tennis Courts and 2 Padel Courts. The Driving Range has 10 covered tees and between 6-8 open tees on natural grass. The Restaurant is excellent with a full menu and wine cellar, you can also get snacks, breakfast and drinks.
This is a very popular course so book well in advance. First links course built on the Costa del Sol and the oldest. Good mature course with flat open fairways which are forgiving to the higher handicap player however the last 6 holes can be quite challenging unless you are a confident iron player. The length of the course can provide a stern test for the low handicap player with a massive par 4's on the back nine. You can play any combination of the 9 holes which provides the golfer with a pleasant choice of course. Greens have shown a marked improvement in condition and most of the greens are quite flat with easy reads with the exception perhaps of the 9th ,12th and 15th. Hazards and bunkers are well placed.

The Santa Clara Golf Marbella is a popular club and suits, most likely, the medium to high handicap players. There are some wide fairways and the length of the course is good. The back nine holes are considered to be the more challenging and in some places quite tough and narrow. The 12th is considered a good "longest drive" hole and, if you are up for it, try the difficult 6th, for Nearest the Pin. One of the favourite holes is the long par 5, 13th, and to finish on a high, the 18th which has water around the green. The course can be narrow at times as space is at a premium. Development of houses around the course.

Santa Clara Golf Marbella has an impressive Club House with all the usual facilities, restaurant, bar and terraces and also includes first class changing and shower rooms. Lessons for individuals and groups are also availalble. Buggy drinks cart. What the course slighly lacks in space is more than made up for in quality and service.
The course is 18 holes, par 63 and is set in a secluded valley only minutes away from the Club House. Due to its technical layout Tramores will favour the accurate rather than the bold golfer however, you do get the chance to take out your woods on several occasions. Due to the shorter length, the course is a perfect setting for those players who don't have 4½ hours for a normal round. Good course with some well placed hazards. Course maintenance is top notch.
