CAMPBELL LAMONT GOLF:  EL BOSQUE

KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY!

The previous time Sabrina Vinke visited a course in Valencia she won The Lamont Classic at El Saler.  

On this occasion it was El Bosque where the Belgian member of Campbell Lamont's Golf Society continued her winning ways, heading a 27 strong field with 37 points and achieving another handicap cut to 27.6.    Keeping it in the family, Sabrina's husband, Pierre Van der Zee (18), finished second with a good 35 points.  Cath Parsons (22.3)  also had a good day and scored 35 points.  

El Bosque was the first of the 12 Monthly Open Competitions to be staged at different courses within Costa Blanca North.   At the end of the year the player with the best aggregate total for six rounds will win a coveted trophy and other prizes.

Pierre Van der Zee and Dave Henderson won the Nearest the Pin "Bottles" on the 4th and 14th holes respectively.  Dave's ball finished so close to the 14th hole breath was being held!

The next Campbell Lamont Golf Monthy Competition is being held at Alicante Golf on Thursday 9th February. CAMPBELL LAMONT GOLF:  THE LAMONT CLASSIC
EL SALER, THURSDAY 1st DECEMBER 2011

The annual Lamont Classic was held at the wonderful course of El Saler, Valencia.  We could not have had a better day and with the course in superb condition,  it was that good there were no preferred lies on the fairways, the large field  headed off for an exceptional round of golf. 

Martin Gates - the 2009 and 2010 Champion was gunning for a third consecutive win but it was not to be.  Our first lady winner of the Lamont Classic, Sabrina Vincke, outgunned and outplayed even her husband to take the lovely glass trophy with 43 points and realising a cut in handicap of 3.5. Fantastic score and a great first competition win for this lovely lady who is a pupil of Campbell.  Second place with a super 36 points was Nico Lubig followed by a great third place for Keith Baddley, 33 points just  pipping Colin Cooper who scored 32 points. Campbell Lamont actually scored 35 points but in his usual courteous manner, declined the prize even after Uncle John told him to submit his card!  Next year Campbell.  The 16th Fairway was nominated for the Longest Drive for both the Ladies and Men and our new Champ, Sabrina, showed her prowess taking the Ladies Gift.  James Ivory at only 14 years old out drove the usual suspects and claimed the Mens Gift.  There were 4 Nearest the Pins and they were claimed by Kieran McLaughlan 4th & 12th, Martin Gates 9th and Dave Kitson 17th.  Very well done to all our prizewinners and to everyone who turned up and enjoyed a fabulous day at El Saler.  Thanks also to our Sponsors: John and Lynne Lamont.    A large group then followed the golf with an evening in Valencia to play "Texas Hold'Em" Poker and have some fun!  With dinner, an overnight stay and the poker, a great night was had by all.

CAMPBELL LAMONT GOLF:  MONTHLY COMPETITION
EL BOSQUE,  THURSDAY 20TH OCTOBER 2011

An excellent day for golf at the superb golf course of El Bosque - a great favourite with many players. You could have called this the "International Monthly Competition" as we had a truly international field with at least 6 countries being represented and it was a very interesting and thoroughly enjoyable day out.    

After a lovely round of golf, at a good pace, we had our winners - all scores are nett.  Steady and true taking first place, and a name we warned you about, James Ivory with an excellent 38 points. Second place was a tie between Pierre Van Der Zee and Richard Vass both scoring a good 37 points placing Rafe Parker on 36 points into fourth. Jean Jacques Simons and Fred Cooley took the prizes for the Nearest the Pin bottles on the 4th and 14th holes respectively.  Two's today, 8th hole - Jean Jacques Simons and Mike Tracey and the 12th  hole, Richard Vass. Very well done to all who took part and to the prize winners.

A good field went out on Thursday to play the Campbell Lamont Golf Monthly Competition but unfortunately the weather decided to step in and down came the rain together with thunder and lightening.  

All golf was abandoned.

VILLAITANA LEVANTE:  25th AUGUST 2011

The Championship Course of Villaitana Levante played host to the CLG Monthly Golf Competition on Thursday 25th August and with a large field  it was a long, very hot and thirsty day! Thank goodness for buggy's ! Congratulations to all the golfers for getting out there and posting good scores.   First place and making it "two in a row"  Andries Vermaat with a nett score of 43 points and a nice big handicap cut! Second was Mark Ivory with 40 points, handicap cut, and there was a tie for third, Fred Cooley and Denise Cooper both posted 39 points - wait for it -  and yes, another handicap cut ! Shaun Muir and Nico Lubig took the Nearest the Pin prizes on the 3rd and 14th holes respectively.   We had two "2's" today,  Shaun Muir on the 7th hole and Ron Mitchell on the 14th hole.

CAMPBELL LAMONT GOLF:  "OPEN" MONTHLY COMPETITION  
BONALBA GOLF & SPA, MUTXAMEL - 18TH AUGUST 2011 


Bonalba Golf Club, Mutxamel was the setting for the Campbell Lamont Golf "Open"  Golf Competition for August. Our large field of golfers bravbely went out in the heat and boy did they do well.  First place was captured with an excellent score of 40 points by Andries Vermaat, closely followed in second place by Anthony Burn with a super 39 ponints, Anthony also had a "2" on the 11th hole, and in third place Martin Maynard who posted a great 37 points.  Shaun Muir won both the Nearest the Pin prizes on teh 4th and 14th holes.  Congratulations to everyone who took part.


CAMPBELL LAMONT GOLF:  MONTHLY COMPETITON
30th June :  Villaitana Golf, Benidorm

Things were hotting up and not just the weather!  On the last day of June not only did the CLG group play the Monthly Competition but we also had the final qualifying competition for the CLG League Season 2 : Q1. Villaitana Golf, Benidorm was the venue and what a day we all had.  There were several golfers vying for, not only, the top spot in the CLG League Section but the competition was also fierce for first place in the CLG Monthly Competition.

Mark Reynolds was the eventual winner of the CLG League Q1 accumulating 104 points from 3 matches. Mark will now go on to play in the Free, Fully Inclusive Grand Final next year when the most fabulous prizes are up for grabs. The Campbell Lamont Golf Monthly Competition was a different matter altogether!  First place and our June winner, David Rosser (19.6) with a superb 41 points  and a handicap reduction to 17.8.  Second place, Denise Cooper (28.8) our rising star, posting a score of 37 points and deducting another 0.5 from her handicap. Third place with the same score of 37 but losing out on the lower handicap rule, Julia Gilburt (34.2) - handicap down 0.5.  Fourth was Tom Coulson (19) with 36 points.  Eric Newman and Tom Coulson won the Nearest the Pin Bottles on the 3rd and 14th holes respectively. Four golfers also posted "2's" Hole 3: Mark Ivory, Hole 14: Fred Cooley, Colin Cooper and Tom Coulson. Well done to everyone who won and to all the golfers who took part on this very hot day.

Our next Campbell Lamont Golf Monthly Competition will be held at the outstanding Championship Course of La Sella Golf, Denia on Thursday 28th July. Start time 09.14 am. CAMPBELL LAMONT GOLF:  JUNE “OPEN” COMPETITION
9th June 2011, Oliva Nova Golf

Oliva Nova Golf, Oliva was the setting for the Singles Stableford June Open Golf Competition organised and sponsored by Campbell Lamont Golf on Thursday 9^th June 2011.  A good field of ladies and gentlemen golfers played this lovely course and although work is being carried out to improve 2 holes,  which will be superb when finished,  it was an excellent day and thankfully dry.  

The competition was fierce but there can only be one winner and that was Alan Fullwood with a score of 37 points - reducing his handicap to 13.9.  We then had four golfers all scoring 35 points, Ed Wallace (7.4), Silvia Everstein (17.9), Mike Boyle (18) and Pierre Van Der Zee (18.2).  Ed Wallace took 2^nd spot on the handicap ruling with Silvia 3^rd, Mike 4^th and Pierre 5^th.   Pierre Van Der Zee and Gavin Riddall won the Nearest the Pin Bottles on the 3^rd and 16^th holes respectively.  Well done everyone!

CLG Monthly Competition
El Bosque -  26th May 2011 

El Bosque Golf Club, Valencia was the location for the CLG  Monthly Competition for May and what a day. The weather was extremely hot and buggies were not available so we had some pretty tired and dehydrated golfers at the end. Depsite this, everyone enjoyed the wonderful El Bosque course and some good scores were posted even with these testing conditions.    

With good prizes on offer and sponsored by Spectrum FM our golfers were keen to find out who had won and here are the results.  In first place scoring 40 points, Tom Coulson, there was a tie for second place between David Kerr and (we told you to watch this young man) James Ivory both scoring 36 points, fourth place went to Martin Shaw scoring 35 points.  James Ivory and John "Uncle John" Lamont won the Nearest the Pin Bottles on the 4th and 14th respectively. Well done to all our prizewiners.

CLG Monthly Competition

Oliva Nova 28th April 2011

Oliva Nova Golf and the sun was shining for the April Campbell Lamont Golf Monthly Competition sponsored by Spectrum FM.  The 34 players who turned out to play the course had a ball especially after the recent weather front and every one of them set out with great anticipation that this could be their day!

Oliva Nova was in an excellent condition and the golfers showed their enthusiasm for the course by posting super scores.  In first place with 42 points, James Ivory (one to watch), second with the "Twin Connection" Rosie Downham and 40 points closely followed and taking third spot, Les Finch, 39 points. A very close contest!  The Nearest the Pin prizes on the 3rd and 16th holes were won by Rafe Parker and Nigel Brooks respectively. Congratulations to everyone who won today.  It was a really great day with no pressure, everyone just relaxed and enjoyed themselves.

CLG Monthly Competition
La Galiana 31st March

Campbell Lamont Golf Society Cup 17th March 2011 

The Inaugural Campbell Lamont Golf Society Cup, an Invitational Event, took place at the newly opened Championship Golf Course La Galiana on Thursday 17th March.  Thirty Six Teams of two golfers representing Societies who are clients of Campbell Lamont Golf, from Torrevieja to Valencia, took part in a Stableford Better Ball Competition.  Thankfully the weather  had changed for the better and the most beautiful day was enjoyed by all on this spectacularly panoramic and challenging course on the outskirts of Tavernes, just north and inland of Gandia.

The Winners of this inaugural event and collecting a beautiful Glass Trophy with 37 points were Gary Stone and Kevin Ramsay representing White Coast GS. Second with 36 points were Colin Clifford and Ray White of Amigos GS.  Three teams returned a score of 35 points but using the lower handicap rule third place went to John Lamont and James Oliphant representing Campbell Lamont GS. In 4^th place were Henri Copperstone and Rune Hagberg of Terra Mitica GS and 5^th were Bill Diamond and Brian Telfer of the Swindlers  GS.  Nearest the Pins on the 5^th and 12^th holes were won by John Migan, Spectrum FM  and Dave Reynolds, Marina Alta GS respectively.
