For several days the weather forecast for Sunday looked bleak.
Heavy rain and winds were forecast and lasting for most of the day.
The reality was somewhat different.
Early rain showers had moved away leaving the Oliva Nova greens just perfect. Except for some passing cumulous on distant high ground, the clouds had parted and the course was bathed in perfect sunshine. There was gentle breezes where there had been strong winds just hours previously.
The shotgun at 9.45 sent the full field off in conditions which meant that there was no room for excuses. The fairways were pristine and the greens were in excellent condition.
The excellent scoring was therefore hardly surprising.
Prior to announcing the winners everyone enjoyed the most excellent buffet which is a hallmark of the Oliva Nova package.
As everyone neared the completion of their lunch Campbell commenced the prize giving and firstly introduced his newest ally and fluent Spanish speaker Paul Glennie.
First of the prizes went to Donna Green and Grahame Clarke for nearest the pin on holes 3 and 16. Then Campbell announced that he had divided the event into two categories. Category One would be teams with handicaps up to 10.00 and Category two would be those with handicaps over 10.00.
