This course demands respect from the very first hole. The opening par 4 features a water hazard to the left of the green. El Plantio Golf originally opened in 1993 as a 9-hole par 3 course. The full 18-hole championship layout then opened in 2000. As a result, the resort has grown into one of the most complete golf destinations near Alicante. Mature fig, palm and cork trees line both the fairways and greens. Consequently, the course has a distinctive Mediterranean character that sets it apart.
The back nine is particularly demanding and must be treated with care. For instance, the 14th hole plays alongside a mountain. Raised greens, elevated tees and water hazards create a stern test throughout. Therefore, course management and precise shot-making are essential.
