The CBL was formed in 1997 with four golf teams from the North Alicante (Costa Blanca Golf Society, Don Cayo IGS, El Patio GS) and four golf teams from the South Alicante (Eurogolf La Marquesa, Las Ramblas, San Miguel GS and Torrevieja GS).

Two of the founding teams are still competing, the Costa Blanca GS and Altea.

The founder of the league was Sr. Manuel Garay who was assisted by Secretary Richard Davis and competition Secretary Tony Carroll.

In 2016 Campbell Lamont Golf took over the responsibility of the day to day administration of the league and endeavours to maintain and grow the leagues throughout the region. At present due to Covid we are only running one division with 10 teams, however we plan to go back to two divisions in the season of 2023.
